We are PLEASED to announce that Joyous Shout! and XM Radio will be joining forces throughout the month of June in a SPECIAL contest in support of the "Chico Hamilton- Still THE Man" online marketing campaign. The month long promotion will feature prizes to 15 lucky winners of a collectible piece of autographed and framed Chico Hamilton memorabilia, with another 25 runners up receiving autographed Chico Hamilton publicity photos!

On Wednesday May 28th we will be doing an email blast to 35,000 jazz consumers thru DC Jazz announcing this SPECIAL contest, which begins in earnest on June 1st with daily plugs on XM Radio's Real Jazz (XM70) headed by Programming Director Maxx Myrick. These plugs will continue thru the end of June and will publicize our contest driving Real Jazz (XM70) listeners to the XM Radio (xmradio.com) website where they will be able to register for this contest, see pictures of the prizes, and also find links to the latest Chico Hamilton news at the Joyous Shout! website (joyousshout.com), the "Chico Hamilton- Still THE Man" flash e-card (joyousshout.com/e-card12-02.html), and to the Amazon.com purchase page for Chico Hamilton's recent Koch Jazz release "THOUGHTS OF...".

On May 12th, Chico and his "Euphoria" group joined Maxx Myrick at Nola's Penthouse Studios in NYC to tape an edition of Wynton Marsalis' program "In the Swing Seat" (photos of Maxx, Wynton, and Chico and his group in the studio that day are available by request), which will also air in support of this contest.

"THOUGHTS OF..." shows legendary Jazz drummer & bandleader Chico Hamilton to be always hip and

ever modern, even as he approaches his 82nd year!! A swing, swing, swinging affair featuring Chico and his "Euphoria" group - Cary DeNigris on guitar, Paul Ramsey on bass, Evan Schwam on tenor sax, Erik Lawrence on alto and soprano sax, Karolina Strassmayer on flute, alto and soprano sax, and special guest spots from luminaries from the world of jazz guitar (and former band members)- Joe Beck, Larry Coryell and Rodney Jones!! "THOUGHTS OF..." brilliantly captures that ambience so unique to Chico's live performances. Chico wrote new compositions especially for the recording and he also sets new swinging grooves on surprising contemporary covers: that classic "Conquistadors" beat on Joe Claussell's recent dance floor stomper, "Je Ka Jo"; and the "Killer Joe" groove of the album-closer, a cover of the Modfather Paul Weller's "Bull-Rush."

XM Radio is the rebirth of radio, currently with 500,000 subscribers as of 4/1 and steadily marching towards a year end goal of 1,000,000 subscribers. XM Radio's innovative programming approach features 101 coast-to-coast digital channels, including Real Jazz (XM70) headed by Programming Director Maxx Myrick. A longtime radio professional, Maxx has too many industry awards for one shelf: from Billboard, Gavin Magazine, Black Radio Exclusive, National Black Programmers Coalition, Impact and Urban Network, among others. In addition to his extensive radio experience, Maxx has one critical qualification for his position at XM Radio: JAZZITUDE!!

So check out XM Radio's Real Jazz (XM70), look for the link to the Chico Hamilton contest, and find out why all MODERNISTS and EVERYONE with JAZZITUDE say that FOR EVERY GENERATION, Chico Hamilton's "Still THE Man"!!

Thanks.

Peace.

Keep the Faith.

Jeffrey
